What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Why Is It Important?

Two-Factor Authentication is a crucial security feature that significantly enhances your account protection.

What is 2FA?

2FA requires two forms of verification:

  • Something you know: Your password
  • Something you have: A code from your phone or authenticator app

Why is 2FA Important?

Enhanced Security

  • Passwords alone can be compromised
  • 2FA adds a second barrier
  • Much harder for attackers to bypass

Protection Against

  • Phishing attacks
  • Password leaks
  • Brute force attacks
  • Unauthorized access

Setting Up 2FA on SuperDapp

Step 1: Access Security Settings

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Security
  • Find Two-Factor Authentication

Step 2: Choose Your Method

  • Authenticator App (Recommended): Google Authenticator, Authy
  • SMS: Receive codes via text message
  • Email: Receive codes via email

Step 3: Complete Setup

  • Scan the QR code (for authenticator app)
  • Enter the verification code
  • Save your backup codes securely

Backup Codes

When you enable 2FA, you'll receive backup codes:

  • Store them securely (offline preferred)
  • Use them if you lose access to your 2FA device
  • Each code can only be used once

Best Practices

  • Use an authenticator app over SMS
  • Keep backup codes in a safe place
  • Don't share your 2FA codes
  • Update your recovery options
