What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Why Is It Important?
Two-Factor Authentication is a crucial security feature that significantly enhances your account protection.
What is 2FA?
2FA requires two forms of verification:
- Something you know: Your password
- Something you have: A code from your phone or authenticator app
Why is 2FA Important?
Enhanced Security
- Passwords alone can be compromised
- 2FA adds a second barrier
- Much harder for attackers to bypass
Protection Against
- Phishing attacks
- Password leaks
- Brute force attacks
- Unauthorized access
Setting Up 2FA on SuperDapp
Step 1: Access Security Settings
- Go to Settings
- Select Security
- Find Two-Factor Authentication
Step 2: Choose Your Method
- Authenticator App (Recommended): Google Authenticator, Authy
- SMS: Receive codes via text message
- Email: Receive codes via email
Step 3: Complete Setup
- Scan the QR code (for authenticator app)
- Enter the verification code
- Save your backup codes securely
Backup Codes
When you enable 2FA, you'll receive backup codes:
- Store them securely (offline preferred)
- Use them if you lose access to your 2FA device
- Each code can only be used once
Best Practices
- Use an authenticator app over SMS
- Keep backup codes in a safe place
- Don't share your 2FA codes
- Update your recovery options
